Nach dem Hanshin-Erdbeben 1995 und dem Tōhoku-Tsunami 2011 konn­te die japa­ni­sche Künst­le­rin Hiro­ko Inoue als Zeit­zeu­gin fest­stel­len, dass die­se Kata­stro­phen geis­ti­ge Nar­ben tief im mensch­li­chen Bewusst­sein und auf unbe­stimm­te Zeit hin­ter­las­sen haben. Seit­dem schafft sie Wer­ke, die sich im Span­nungs­feld von Mensch/Zivilisation/Natur bewe­gen. Durch die Pan­de­mie in Ver­bin­dung mit dem Kli­ma­wan­del steht die­ses von technisch/medialen Pro­zes­sen beherrsch­te und auf einen glo­ba­len Kon­su­mis­mus aus­ge­rich­te­te Ver­hält­nis an einem dra­ma­ti­schen Wen­de­punkt. Beson­ders die jun­ge Gene­ra­ti­on steht vor der Fra­ge, was ver­än­dert wer­den muss, um eine lebens­fä­hi­ge und lebens­wer­te Zukunft zu ermög­li­chen. Mit der Aus­stel­lung „Being the Stream“ nähert sich die Künst­le­rin die­sem Wen­de­punkt mit foto­gra­fi­schen Arbei­ten und Video­in­stal­la­tio­nen.

Febru­ary 12th: Film and book pre­sen­ta­ti­on Außen Fuji Tag with Rai­ner Kom­ers Finis­sa­ge: Febru­ary 26th: 4 p.m. with Hiro­ko Inoue After the 1995 Hans­hin ear­th­qua­ke and the 2011 Tōho­ku tsu­na­mi, Japa­ne­se artist Hiro­ko Inoue was able to obser­ve as a con­tem­po­ra­ry wit­ness that the­se dis­as­ters left a deep and inde­fi­ni­te­ly las­ting spi­ri­tu­al scar in human con­scious­ness. Sin­ce then, she has been crea­ting works that take place in the inter­play of humanity/civilization/nature. Begin­ning with the series Mori (Forest), which she show­ed in Ger­ma­ny for the first time in 2011 at the Kunst­ver­ein Dort­mund, she has been working pho­to­gra­phi­cal­ly with the ele-ments of fire (Hi) and steel, wood and forest (Mori), water (Mizu) and ice. Sty­li­sti­cal­ly approa­ching ab-straction, she has used the tech­ni­ques of inkjet print, sil­ver gela­tin print/light box and moving images. Due to the pan­de­mic in con­nec­tion with cli­ma­te chan­ge, this rela­ti­onship domi­na­ted by technical/media pro­ces­ses and ten­ding towards glo­bal con­su­me­rism is at a dra­ma­tic tur­ning point. The youn­ger genera-tion in par­ti­cu­lar is faced with the ques­ti­on of what must be chan­ged in order to crea­te a future both vi-able and worth living for. With the exhi­bi­ti­on Being the Stream the artist wis­hes to approach this tur­ning point with aspects/scenes of both the inner and the outer world. Gal­lery ope­ning hours: Dai­ly noon-8 p.m.
